Seclusion
Seclusion is when a student is placed in a space or setting that inhibits their ability to leave. Seclusion should be monitored by an adult at all times and the door to the seclusion room should never be locked. When students are placed in seclusion it needs to be a priority to remove any harmful objects or clothing from the student. The sole purpose of seclusion should be to allow the student the time it takes for them to regain self-control. *Elementary School students should not be secluded for longer than 15 minutes. *Middle school and high school students should not be secluded for longer than 20 minutes. * Both of these time limits are to be held unless it would be unsafe for the student or others to conclude the seclusion. |
