Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavioral Intervention Plan
Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) collect data about a students behavior. This data includes if the behavior occurs more when certain people are present, at certain times of the day, during certain tasks, or in certain places etc. This assessment also takes data on the duration of these behaviors and how often they occur.

Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP) is a plan that replaces an existing behavior with a similar but acceptable behavior. The first step is to identify the behavior that needs to be replaced and to identify the replacement behavior you would like to be exhibited instead of the misbehavior. Next, the replacement behavior needs to be taught and the skills that the student may lacking need to be identified and taught. The teacher also needs to think about preventative measures to take to avoid the misbehavior in the future and the types of reinforcement and consequences that will be used.
