Response to InterventionRTI is a multi-tiered intervention that starts with the identification of students academic needs. The goal of RTI is to give a student the appropriate intervention needed in order to succeed in their class. Tier I: This is the largest category of students. These students need a normal amount of educational differentiation and high quality instruction. These students are assessed to determine the best instructional practice for student success and teachers use multiple instructional techniques to create a helpful learning environment. Tier II: This group of students is the next largest and requires additional instructional help in addition to the regular help that the tier I students are receiving. Teachers closely monitor these students to check for progress and use small groups and individual attention to increase comprehension and academic success. Tier III: These students are given individual intensive intervention to try and counter act their academic shortcomings. If these students still do not make the adequate progress that is expected, they can be referred to receive special education services. |
